Family London Tour! Day 2

Our second day in London was thankfully much sunnier than our first. We decided to spend most of our day outside and getting in some other key spots before we had our train to catch to Liverpool in the evening.

After checking out, the first thing we had to do was dump our bags! Just like in Glasgow we used BagBNB. In our experience it has the same stores as Stasher but lets you book for less. We found a place close to Euston Station, dumped the backpacks, and very important Dyson, then got in a taxi!

St. Paul’s Cathedral

The main destination for the morning was the Tower of London, but as we could swing by St. Paul’s Cathedral on the way, we made a quick pit stop. We didn’t go in as we enjoyed admiring the cathedral from the outside.

We wanted to take in London slowly and so headed off The Thames going past London Bridge and other quirky river side restaurants on the way.

Tower of London & Tower Bridge

We spent a bit of time going around the grounds of the Tower of London. They have an excellent gift shop with many quirky items. You can also see a great deal from just around the grounds.

As Jinny’s brother is taking a big test this year, he took the chance to cast away his bad luck into the keep at the tower! Fingers crossed that it did the job and he will be able to pass in one go!

From there we went across the Tower Bridge.

I have been across the Tower Bridge a few times, but I can never get enough of it. It is such a beautiful place, with great views over the River Thames. Personally I love the colour and just grandness of the entire thing. It is awesome! Once of the other side we were feeling a bit hungry and headed East towards the Butler’s Wharf Pier. It has a lot of cool restaurants and great place for some photos too. We even saw a couple do a wedding shoot there!

We jumped in to Pizza Express and had a very satisfying lunch. Top tip, always make sure to check out online coupons for these kind of places. We were able to get some good savings thanks to a quick search. Many chain restaurants in the UK have awesome coupons online if you have a quick look.

Hay’s Galleria

West from the Warf we continued along the Thames, stopping for an ice cream snack along the way, to Hay’s Galleria.

We had been searching for a few key items since we arrived in London. Mainly some shoes and accessories for Jinny’s dad. We were confident that we could find them here! But, no luck…..he has a very clear idea of what he wants, and none of the shoes in London were a match for his desire! The hunt continues.

Even without buying anything, on a Sunny day, the Galleria is a nice place to hang out. So we all enjoyed it, and it was our last major sight before heading back to Euston.

Pub & Train

Heading back to pick up our bags we stopped for a couple of pints at The Rocket.

It is a reasonably priced pub not too far from Euston Station. It would only be a few hours from London to Liverpool, on the Virgin Train, but we also got some snacks and beverages to enjoy on the train too.

Bye Bye London!

Jinny, I and her family really enjoyed the capital! The rain at the start of the trip definitely limited a lot of what we could see. So we missed out on something we were looking forward too. Even with rain there is plenty to do though. We were able to see the main sights, though there were many things we left out too. A couple more days would have been the perfect amount of time to get everything in, but as we also wanted to visit Liverpool too, we compromised on our length in London.

One thing we realized was that as we were a big group of 5 people. A lot of the time the most convenient and cheapest way to travel was by taxi. Love the fact that the London taxi’s can easily hold 5 people!

Next stop Liverpool!
