Halifax

While we were in Japan we had to decide a lot of different things for the UK wedding in advance. In some ways the most important and stressful (after the venue) was the photographer.

We looked on countless websites and even made a short list of around 10 photographers we liked, and spoke to via Skype. In the end we had decided on Charli! You can see her work at https://photographybycharli.com/ and we are sure you’ll see why we decided to go with her. Not just her photography but her filmography is amazing.

As we had only spoke to Charli via Skype and she was only a short train ride away, we decided to go see her in person to get to know each other better before the wedding.

We walked along the canal to the train station for our train to Halifax. Passing some canal boats on the way.

The Piece Hall

We hopped on the train and headed to Halifax. It take less than an hour and no need for a transfer. Very handy!

After arriving we headed straight to The Piece Hall. It is a sprawling 18th-century cloth hall, which now houses history exhibits, shops, bars & restaurants.

It is really really nice. It it full of history to learn about, and such an amazing location for the bars & restaurants too. We also went when the weather was perfect too, which made it even better.

For lunch we went to The Trading Rooms inside the hall. They do a wide range of food and have lots of drinks available. We decided on Beer and Burger, we were not disappointed!

Victorian Craft Beer Cafe

After lunch we headed to the meeting place with Charli. It was a craft beer cafe a few minutes away.

They had many many kinds of beer available, and the friendly staff were super helpful in explaining all the kinds as well as offering tasting. We spent a good few hours in there talk with Charli and enjoying the range of beverages.

Charli was great in going over all the key points for our wedding and putting our mind at ease. Especially as it was going to be an international wedding, and she would be doing both video and photography, we knew it was a big task. At the end everyone was on the same page and we were excited that the next time we would meet is our wedding day!

With a belly full of beer and food we headed back on the train back home. It was only a quick visit but the The Piece Hall 100% worth a visit if you are ever traveling in the area!
